I remember when Mario + Rabbids got leaked. The backlash was fierce. The creative director went to E3 despondent. People didn’t know what it was and decided whatever it was, they weren’t on board.

And the amount of times games have been leaked only for things to change and the journalists credibility gets called into question because it wasn’t what they said it would be.

Is it worth it?

I work in marketing for a company that produces small plastic things that people like to paint and game with. Due to the way production works, we get leaks occasionally. They are the worst thing - they sap people's time and effort, and pull the joy away from official reveals. Still, a vocal contingent think that they are leaked on purpose, for "organic engagement" or something. I can only imagine how frustrating it is for PR companies working with developers and publishers.

This reminded me how much I hate ‘data mining’. While I appreciate some people must enjoy it and it might have its uses, it still gives me the image of some joyless bastard trawling through code so they can identify what DLC might happen in 2 years and be the first to spread it on Twitter.

I once trawled dark corners of Reddit to view a leaked image of a door from the upcoming Starfield...this depravity needs to stop! ...but I just cant help myself

I am hopeless Arsenal Fan. Hopefully you have a better team in your heart. If not, then we share the same sentiment of defeat on Boxing Day. I don't know why the team always deflates on Boxing Day.

As for the leaks, I have been doing something interesting with all the Marvel Superheroes movie stuff. I am not watching the trailers. Or reading anything ahead of time and just sitting down on the theatre when the time comes and so far it has been far more enjoyable than swallowing down every single thing about an unreleased project.

Sadly we can't do the same with games. I mean Elder Ring is a 60 dollar, 100 hours journey, you actually need to know what you are getting into.

Stray for instance was a instant sell for me: you play as a cat. That's it. SOLD. Cold hard money right away.

Cult of the lamb? I know we promised not to preorder anything ever again but come on man, that looks freaking amazing how could I not?

Indies I will preorder and buy three times if given the opportunity (like Hollow Knight: In PC, in Switch and in Steam because I can)

But Leaks... leaks do nobody no good. I mean, what good is to know that the new Zelda has X feature if Nintendo won't release it for another year and half. it is so far away that I rather wait for a proper trailer by the father of the creature.

I guess is slow news, and the heat is not going anywhere and the wildfires are starting to pick up (where I live the rain is starting to carry away houses and people and it is frightening when you see so much water pooling in the first floor of the building)

Anyway

COME ON YOU GUNNERS!

One bonus to running a volunteer site, and therefore not needing to watch page views like a hawk, is that we get to least implement "we don't report rumors/leaks" policies. If nothing else I really have no interest in posting stuff then having to post basically the thing again (and desperately trying to regain the same level of interest) shortly after when it's actually announced.
