Hi Nathan, interesting note at the end r.e. Niantic and Peridot/AR pets. I've somewhat managed to convince myself that, stupid as it sounds, AR pets might end up being a major breakout thing for the technology if/when further advances happen.

If those smart contact lenses ever actually work, AR pets which people can interact with to control their "smart home" (lol at that term) tech, Alexas and so on becoming extremely popular. Could even add in the idea of haptic clothing one day to feel your little AR house-controlling pet sitting on you as you lay on the sofa etc.

People get attached to digital shit so quickly, and so many people appear to lose all critical faculties when presented with an image of a cat. Imagine that but something you can design yourself, that plays with you but can be dismissed at will, that can learn what you like over time, that can go with you anywhere, that doesn't make a mess or smell, that doesn't need walking, doesn't have vet bills and doesn't die....
