So glad you included the “beroepsdeformatie” email! I was just thinking about that concept recently but couldn’t come up with anything as succinct as the English definition offered above.

You know. I wish there was something like this in spanish, not only telling us which games are the best, or where to invest our time on, but the insights, usually the magazines, and newsletter in spanish are horrendous and pointless. I wish I could do something like this and well share it with everyone.

Other than that, I spent 80 hours on Elden Ring, and didn't manage to finish it. I had this overload of nothingness. The difficulty suddenly spiked and my hands are not what they used to be as of now. I am missing reflexes and speed (Covid didn't help at all) but I don't think I will go martirize myself for any extent of time, any time soon. Perhaps on 2023. I will think about it (or not and be hurt by Silksong instead)

As for Square Enix. Squaresoft did about my favorite JRPG in time: Final Fantasy X (don't judge me) And Valkyrie Profile (this one being Enix Tri-ace if memory serves me well) And now they have this unholy mix of.. ideas perhaps trying to etch into each other but having no real direction whatsoever. Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default II are beautiful but sometimes they feel like the lacked a bit of direction.

Now they will just dedicate all their efforts to make point updates to Kingdom Hearts and the never ending Final Fantasy. I wish companies stopped this AAA game fad, and returned to their essence.

let's make something that we actually like, a story that we actually want to tell. And I assure you, that we as players in the whole wide world will just throw money at them. Instead we get these bloated games that try to do so much (I am looking at a one Creed of Assasin's) and in the end they fall flat with repetition.

Ah this was supposed to be just an answer about languages and envy instead look at me rambling pointlessly.

Thank you for making Hit Points. It is nice. Once I have disposable income, I will subscribe with my cold hard earned Pesos (we have no dollars but are affected directly from it)

So. I will try to write more often.

Yup, I guess "paltry" is a good word for that--after a quick glimpse at a news site's headline yesterday I had to look up to confirm the $300m were spent on the IPs themselves too 'cause I simply couldn't believe it.

You're right, after all it could've been seen as just an unnecessary burden from the Eastern point of view... Either way I just can't shake the feeling it was a steal.

What's next, Embracer?

Your comment on not seeing an Embracer splash screen caught me off guard. Like you, I play a lot of games across the spectrum of genres and whatever amount of A's are needed and I don't think I've seen one either. Do they stay clear out of the way, or have they simply not released anything of note since buying every other game dev going?

I do have high hopes for the likes of Deus Ex, Thief, and Tomb Raider going forward, but what that is based is anyone's guess.
