Companies are not friends. Your bosses might be. Your colleagues might be. But companies themselves are these faceless capitalist things that pay you to do a job. And if your department isn’t performing for whatever reason… they might ignore that when the sun is shining, but as soon as the clouds start forming and the shareholders start frowning, they will not think twice to throw you away.

It’s the awful system we are stuck with.

But on the other side, when you see these leaders talk about company loyalty as a reason for being in the credits… or talk about the company ‘family’. Or ‘HR is there to help you’ (they’re only there to help the company). Just remember that they will let you go when things are not going well. So if you find a better opportunity, don’t think twice about leaving, either.
