Desperate measures is a kindness. Since the later stages of last year Microsoft / AB have frequently used the term merger, including big Phil. At face value I assumed this was shorthand for acquisition, however following recent events it’s looking like Xbox is the +1 at this party. The deal stuttering is starting to smell less like desperation and more existential crisis for Xbox. MS and AB knew the regulators would raise an eyebrow or two but assumed an ad in the wanted column and a janky switch port would quickly have the handyman replacing the signage at AB’s offices. AB is the same company that licked the Sony money lolly when dishing out exclusive marketing tie ups and digital tat. It’s a bit pot kettle black when Lulu Cheng Meservey is calling out the big bad capitalists at Sony for not playing nice over potential shareholder loses. Are we seriously at the point of communication teams sounding like delusional exes, because if we are the CMA should be asking more questions not fewer!
