I thought the Xbox event was excellent too, and I’m someone who hasn’t touched his Series X since they shut down emulators on there (sorry, Phil).

My one complaint with this format -- which, to be clear, I vastly prefer to hearing Americans scream WOOOOOOOOOOO over the trailers -- is the lack of any setup in between trailers. Sony’s event was far worse for this -- it felt like a YouTube playlist, with videos autoplaying one after the other.

I appreciated that this time Microsoft at least tossed in a WORLD PREMIERE and XBOX STUDIOS PRESENTS so I had some context to what I was watching. But I’ve always preferred Nintendo’s approach, putting up a presenter to give a few words to tee up what we’re going to see (or, with Nindies, ending with a few happy words from the devs). Not only feels more personable, it gives me a bit of context ahead of what I’m seeing -- oh, it’s from those devs? I love their stuff!
